Lives and works in Luanda, Angola
With a scholarship from the Gulf Foundation, he studied Afro-American culture and cinema in the University of California, Los Angeles, USA. He has a degree from the Center for Advanced Film Studies of the American Film Institute, Los Angeles, USA. Amongst his solo shows around the world we can call attention to: Contrary Alignment (2009), Coeth Institut, Nairobi, Kenya; Hidden Pages (2009), Iwalewa Haus, Bayreuth, Germany; António Ole (2007), Galeria 111, Lisbon, Portugal; e Olhar em viagem (2003), Alliance Française, Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Since 1967 he participates in several group shows, such as: Who Knows Tomorrow (2010), Alte Nationalgalerie, Berlin, Germany; Artists in Dialogue (2009) with Aimé Mpane, National Museum of African Art-Smithsonian Institution, Washington, USA; The Structures of Survival (2003) 50th Venice Biennale, Italy.
He receives several awards in Angola, Portugal e Cuba. Since 1975 he also produces films and documentaries. His works is present in sevaral public and private collections in Portugal, Angola, South Africa, USA, Germany and Cuba.
